A quickie

This blog thing is still new to me, so I forget about it sometimes.  Ok, I forget about it often.  It’s kind of like a fire-and-forget missile.  I send off this email and that’s it – I forget about my blog until the next day (hopefully).  As it is, I forget about my blog until about twenty minutes before I have to go to class.  Seeing as how I am trying to develop a habit of blogging in the mornings, and if I don’t blog now I won’t blog today, I figured I would use the time as best I could.  This is the result.  Not the greatest blog entry of all time, but there is information here.  It’s buried deep, deep inside the text, but it’s here.

By the way, one observation I do have to share is my take on the lyrics to My Humps, by Black Eyed Peas.  The song is so ubiquitous now, being on some cellular commercial, that I just had to look up the rest of the lyrics.  They are ridiculous.  What’s even more ridiculous is how popular this song is.  It’s very misogynistic and insulting to women, and it’s sung by one!  Amazing.  The IQ levels of successful pop artists are at an all time low.  Actually, when I watch American Idiot, I feel my intelligence rapidly leaving my body.  It’s painful.

I did get to see Howl’s Moving Castle yesterday.  My wife and I tried to see it in the theater when it came out, but we got to the theater late (we were actually 10 minutes early, but in NYC that’s late to the opening weekend of an animated film) and the only seats available were separate and in the first two rows.  So we passed.  However, through the magic of DVD I was able to see it in the comfort of my own house yesterday.  I enjoyed it.  I don’t think I liked it as much as Spirited Away, but it was a nice story and the animation was superb.  The imagination of Miyazaki is really unbelievable.  That guy is either on serious drugs or just a genius.  Probably the latter.

Anyway, we saw Good Night, and Good Luck recently on DVD as well.  That was interesting, primarily for the footage of McCarthy.  What a nut-bag.  Tonight we’ll watch Jarhead.  I held off from seeing this in the theater because, frankly, I didn’t feel I needed to.  However, some folks I know said it was good, it was available and Blockbuster, so it’s on the list for this evening.  Also, saw Topsy-Turvy again last night for the first time in a while and notice that Kevin McKidd is in it.  He plays Naki-poo in the movie but he also plays Lucius Vorenus in HBO’s Rome series.  I love that series and hope a new season comes soon.

What is definitely coming soon is class, so that’s all the Wexis you’ll get today.  Ciao ciao ciao, as my Italian friends say.

Weight

I’ve spent the better part of the morning looking online for weight lifting / fitness equipment.  This would be the fourth or fifth time in my life that I’ve looked to buy such equipment.  In the past I actually did buy a thing or two, but always sold it or gave it away when I moved because I didn’t want to lug hundreds of pounds everywhere I went.  Therefore, my unwillingness to actually lift the weight I bought has caused me to spend more and more money on weights that I eventually won’t lift.  I’m not sure if this is a “vicious” cycle, but it’s rather annoying to have to buy the same crap over and over again.  The good news is that because I’m getting sick of doing that, I’ve learned how to get a great workout with less.  I once read a piece about a guy who did a chest workout entirely through pushups.  He did around a thousand a day, or something like that, in various positions.  Now, this was most likely bullcrap, but it sold magazines (I bought one) and it sounded good.  Plus, it’s cheap.  Cheap is good these days.  Now, I’m not doing a thousand pushups a day, but you get the idea.  There is a way to achieve more with less.  That’s my new philosophy and that’s your daily Wexis.

When Monday rolls around

I found it exceedingly difficult to care about posting over the weekend, so I didn’t – care or post.  But now Monday has rolled around and I have a huge block of time to fill and so I will – care, post and fill time.  Luck is a funny bird.  It seems to head south and return north based on a calendar I’ve yet to discover.  It’s certainly not the solar calendar.  How great would it be to be able to plan your luck in advance that way?  You could pencil in some good times around July, prepare for some bad times around December, and you’d be good to go.  Unfortunately, my lucky bird doesn’t migrate so predictably.  The feathers seem to be all aflutter these days, but you never know when the fickle dove will vacate the premises.  So what do you do?  Do you ride it for all its worth, or store nuts for the coming winter?  Wexis – out.

Ace's Low

I just thought it was very funny that Ace was in the bottom three last night. By the way, I’m trying my new publishing method where I publish to multiple blogs simultaneously. As I said in my previous post, I wasn’t sure how to do this. However, a few hours later I think I’ve got it. Not that hard. Required a few seconds of clear thought which I apparently only have available in the AM these days, when the morning sun is shining. Anyway, now for the daily dose of Wexis - defenestrate is one of my favorite words. I like to use it incorrectly in sentences. But most of all I like the dictionary.com sample sentence “The rebels stormed the palace and defenestrated the President.” In case you were wondering, defenestrate means “to throw out of a window.” That’s having fun with words and that’s the daily Wexis.

Property

Yours, mine and ours.  Hours.  Wasted hours.  Afternoons, on the computer, droning voices.  Nobody seems to know anything worth knowing.  Knowing.  Blowing.  This is blowing. Hard.  Hardly.  Hardly learning anything.  Any.  Thing.
